Reading Teacher Academy - 1316 Certification

Program Overview:

The Reading Teacher 1316 license is designed for teachers who currently hold a WI Tier II teaching license. The curriculum for the Reading Teacher 1316 licensure program was developed using Wisconsin's Guiding Principles for Teaching and Learning, WI ELA Standards, ELA Instructional Practice Guides, current reading research informed by ILA Content Guidelines for Reading Specialists/Reading Teachers, and the ILA Standards Teaching. Our 12-18-month licensure program consists of coursework, clinical experience, and a capstone portfolio. The coursework is grounded in the latest research on science-based reading and how children learn to read. The research-based content is paired with practices embedded within the coursework and aims to expand the teacher’s knowledge and skills, preparing them to meet a wide range of literacy needs.
