Governor Evers with CESA 10 staff

CHIPPEWA FALLS (WQOW) - Governor Tony Evers was in Chippewa Falls on Monday afternoon, highlighting $15 million in grant funding to promote safety in the classroom.

This afternoon, Governor Evers was at CESA 10 (Cooperative Education Service Agency) in Chippewa Falls to have a roundtable discussion about violence prevention. CESA 10 will receive about $800,000 in funds.

The money will be divided up to different areas, but the largest portion will be allocated to train district staff on training and sustainability methods.

Because some of the methods have only been developed in recent years, Governor Evers said his office will continue messaging the success in places they have been implemented.

"That's the only way we're going to be able to increase the money around mental health and violence prevention," he said. "We feel strongly about that, I think most of the Republicans and Democrats feel the same way."

Evers explained the grant money is important for smaller districts who might not have access to violence prevention resources. Staff members from the Osseo, Mondovi and Gilmanton school districts spoke about how the grant money will continue to have a positive impact.
